Q. Acupuncture & Treatment
What treatment will I receive?
Treatment options will be discussed during your consultation. Acupuncture is often combined with other Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies, such as cupping or herbal medicine. Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate approach based on your individual needs.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Depending on your treatment, you may be asked to remove some clothing. Your comfort, privacy, and modesty will always be respected.
Should I eat before my appointment?
Yes. We recommend having a light meal or snack at least one hour before your treatment. This helps reduce the likelihood of feeling lightheaded during or after your session.
Are the needles sterile?
Yes. We use sterile, single-use, disposable acupuncture needles.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people experience little to no discomfort. Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, and many patients find treatments relaxing.
What if my symptoms feel worse after treatment?
Some people experience mild soreness or a temporary increase in symptoms. This is often a normal response as your body adjusts and begins the healing process. If needed, your practitioner will modify your treatment as you progress.
Is it normal to feel lightheaded during or after a treatment session?
Yes, this can occasionally occur and is usually mild and short-lived. It may be related to factors such as low blood sugar, changes in blood pressure, or having treatment on an empty stomach. These feelings generally pass quickly. If you have any concerns, please let your practitioner know so we can make you more comfortable.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies depending on your condition, health history, and treatment goals. Most patients begin with a course of treatments, which are gradually spaced further apart as symptoms improve.
Can I do other treatments alongside acupuncture?
Yes. Ideally, treatments are spaced on alternate days. We recommend avoiding multiple therapies on the same day, as this can be overstimulating for your body. However, if required, occasional overlap is generally fine.
Is it safe to receive treatment during pregnancy?
Yes. Acupuncture is safe during pregnancy when performed by a qualified practitioner. Please let us know if you are pregnant so we can tailor your treatment to ensure it is appropriate and comfortable for each stage of pregnancy.
